On the 14th of May 2022, over 70 members of staff and relatives of patients bravely abseiled down the outside of Southend University Hospital’s main tower block, raising money for local goods causes. The Southend Hospital Radio team was there to capture the voices of some of those ‘Tackling the Tower’ about their experience.

This package was used in the evening’s magazine programme, aiming not only to capture the atmosphere of the day’s events but to highlight how patients and staff are supporting the NHS.

The audio package includes an interview with the local MP and the Trust’s Events Coordinator.
